One of one — when it's gone, it's gone

A one-of-a-kind vintage Guatemalan weaving in deep charcoal-indigo, patterned throughout with fine woven stripes and crossed by a band of vivid multicolored embroidery. That bright seam is the randa — the decorative stitch that joins two handwoven panels together, traditionally the most worked part of the cloth.

Originally woven as a traditional garment and opened into a flat panel, so the embroidery now runs as a feature across the width. Beautiful as a tablecloth or wall hanging, or made into pillows, bench cushions, and upholstery.
