Marcela Calderón Bowl
Mexico
Hand-painted in Mexico by Marcela Calderón, 9½ inches across and 2½ deep. A horse is worked across the inside of the bowl in a line that is unmistakable once you have seen her work. The glaze is deep and slightly uneven.
Calderón's pieces get collected, and this is the sort of thing you buy once and keep. It holds fruit as easily as it sits empty on a table.
